Switzerland: Après Ski Season

Switzerland is easy to pigeonhole. Ski resorts, winter aesthetics, and that’s usually where it ends. But once the snow melts, something quieter and arguably more interesting takes over. Three places worth considering:

  • The Italian-speaking corner of Switzerland that most people overlook.

Lakeside, sun-drenched, and noticeably more relaxed than anywhere north of the Alps. The food is better here too.

  • An alpine village at the foot of the Matterhorn that feels almost too cinematic to be real.

Car-free and quietly luxurious, known for its iconic views, world-class hiking, and seamless mountain access. The kind of place you come for a few nights and end up reorganizing your trip around.

  • Yes, it’s an art city. But Basel holds its own well beyond fair season.

A strong food and wine scene, with an Old Town that rewards wandering. Worth a long weekend on its own, not just a stopover.
